Jazz at Your Local Honda Dealer

Posted on Jul 30, 2010 under japan cartoon | No Comment

Every day we’re told the world is becoming more Americanised, but that, as all the best things are from America this is no bad thing. Space travel, fast food, blues and jazz, theme parks, telephone numbers such as 0-8-0-0-F-U-N-T-I-M-E have all found their way over here. What’s wrong with using numbers on the telephone anyway, why use letters? No, for me the US of A has contributed more than enough for the time being and rather than our culture becoming further Americanised, I vote for us to become Japanised. I mean that’s where the really cool stuff comes from: computer games, Manga cartoons, toilets that shoot water towards your…well you know, that cool robot from television (not available at your Honda dealer) and the most reliable cars on the planet.

Yep for cool stuff that 99 percent of the time will never be used in mainstream markets, Japan is the place to go. It’s the one percent that really does work however that excites me the most. The Sony PlayStation has been the market leader since its inception and the gaming industry as a whole is a multi, multi billion pound yearly business. In fact Japan’s economy alone generated £120 billion through the sale of publishing, games, films and music in 2006 alone. The cars are fast becoming market leaders too. Gone are the days of reliable vehicles that looked like a baby had styled it – enter the simply stunning Nissan GTR or Honda’s most successful hot-hatch the Civic Type R (this unlike the robot is available at your Honda dealer).

The reason why the latest cars from Japan are so well styled whilst maintaining the build quality and reliability you’d expect from the country is that they’ve embraced their culture, which to Western society is, well, bonkers. We’ve all seen the clip shows on TV that showcase the mad game shows Japan have as entertainment. In the UK you answer a few questions correctly and you win some money. In Japan you answer a few questions correctly and then you only have to eat ten snakes, jump through fire and have your leg chopped off to win the big prize.

Then there’s the Bosozoku. Essentially they were a motorcycle gang that started in the mid fifties, but thanks to Manga comics and Anime films such as Akira, the image has been glamourised so the modern day Bosozoku are more style than actual gang fighting and neighbourhood terrorising. They have also branched out to modifying cars with crazy features such as exhausts that reach skywards and end above the roofline. Japanese culture is the perfect ying and yang – they work really hard, they play really, really hard.

You can see now why channelling all the above into a car such as the Nissan GTR is pretty exciting. You have the reliability and build quality from the hard-working Japanese culture, the mad styling from the Manga culture and the incredible handling and on-board computer wizardry from the gaming culture. You can see these elements filtering through to many Japanese car-makers and most notably across their range, Honda.

When judging a car brand, I like to see what their entry-level car is and if that’s good then it’s a good rule of thumb to assume this standard is maintained as the pound signs increase. Using this logic and a trip to your Honda dealer will bring the Honda Jazz before you. It’s a fun little hatchback from the styling to the way it drives around town. In fact it’s not too dissimilar to Doctor Who’s Tardis. Admittedly the Jazz doesn’t transcend time and space, but it’s far bigger on the inside than its exterior would have you believe. The front and rear lights wrap around both ends and a simple arched line down the side completes the shape. It is once again Japan in microcosm: small, functional and stylish.

There are two engines available, a 1.2 litre unit or a 1.4 VTEC litre version. The later is also available with a 6-speed i-SHIFT gearbox that is semi automatic. The funky features don’t end there, with the Jazz offering a panoramic glass roof, a refrigerated glove box and iPod connectivity. Crucially your Honda dealer will take pride in declaring the Jazz emitting just 130g/km CO2 and returning a combined fuel consumption figure of 51.4mpg. The Jazz is cheap to run then, but it’s reasonable to buy in the first place, with prices starting at £9,990 in the UK.

The verdict on the Jazz then is a glowing one. Obviously I’d love a Nissan GTR to embrace my love of all things Japanese, but to suit my wallet and I’m sure the vast majority of readers, nip to your Honda dealer for a sm

Anime 101

Posted on Mar 05, 2010 under japan cartoon | No Comment

Simply put, anime is a form of cartoon animation created in Japan, which explains animes formerly-popular moniker, Japanimation. Anime’s history began at the start of the 20th century. This was when Japanese filmmakers began trying out new animation techniques that were being used in the Western world. Anime did not reach mainstream status until the 1980s, and since then it has blown up not only in Japan, but around the globe.

Part of the draw that anime possesses is the fact that they can target wide ranges of viewers. This is due to the fact that animes are not confined to one category, but run the entire gamut of genres, including action, sci-fi, drama, romance, horror, and yes, even erotica. Many animes do not limit themselves to one particular genre and mix genres together.

Animation itself allows anime creators to convey just about any storyline they desire. It is much easier to make a cartoon about large robots featuring huge action and destruction sequences than it is to produce a live-action film including the same things. With recent advances in CGI animators have even more power to transfer their wildest imaginations on to a screen. Storylines, characters, and settings are limited only to what creators can conjure up in their minds.

Though animes seem to be simple cartoons on the surface, many of them have deeper storylines and character development. This may be conveyed through the use of character-based flashbacks, which portray part of a character’s past to the viewer, allowing them to understand why they act a certain way or say the things they say. Juvenile humor may be thrown in sporadically in drama-based animes, but do not be surprised if you see poignant and profound character development in humor-based animes as well.

Needless to say, not all animes are just cartoons for kids. In fact, the majority of animes feature violence, sexual innuendos, and language that may not be suitable for children. This is likely a major reason why anime’s popularity has exploded in the past few years across the world. With animes, cartoons are no longer just for kids, and even adults can find themes of romance and drama that they might otherwise find only in real-life television shows. The unique blend of animated characters with more mature themes is undoubtedly an enticing combination for adult-viewers.

Most anime series find their foundations in manga, or Japanese comics. These mangas are usually a few episodes ahead of the actual television series and have become popular among international audiences as well.

When animes are released in theaters, on television, or on DVDs in countries outside of Japan, distributors must decide whether they want to use subtitles or dubbed voices. There are pros to both sides of the issue, and there are strong proponents of both. Some viewers enjoy watching their anime without having to read words on the bottom of the screen, which they say take away from the visual pleasures of the anime. Others prefer to hear the original voice acting and enjoy reading the more literal translations. DVDs offer both sides a satisfying medium, as they allow for either subtitles or English voice tracks.

Now that you know the basics of anime and its history, it is time to find the right animes for you. There are countless resources on the Internet that give recommendations and reviews of numerous anime series, many of which are readily available on DVD and even on television stations. Pick a genre, read up on reviews and summaries of shows that you are interested in, and enjoy.

Happy hunting.

Mega Man was an animated television series co-produced between Japan & United States and is based on the game series of the same name. It was created by Ruby-Spears Productions and both animated and written in Japan by Capcom themselves. The series began in 1994 and ended in December 10, 1995 (the series was released in both Japan and America simultaneously), and was aired on many syndicated stations at the time. Two seasons were produced with a third planned but never realized.
Plot
Dr. Light and Dr. Wily were brilliant scientists in the field of robotics, who worked together in a laboratory trying to advance the science. One day, they finished an extremely advanced prototype, but shortly after being activated, it started destroying the laboratory. Dr. Light immediately believed that the prototype’s guidance system, which Dr. Wily had personally programmed, was the source of the problem and concluded they would start over again. Angered, Dr. Wily attempted to steal the plans later that night, but Dr. Light catches him. Wily is able to steal the plans after knocking Dr. Light down, and goes off to what is apparently an abandoned area, and modifies the old robot prototype into Proto Man.
Later, Dr. Light builds Rock and Roll, advanced robots with personalities, along with Ice Man, Guts Man, and Cut Man. Dr. Wily and Proto Man go and steal the robots, reprogramming the later three robots as henchmen. Dr. Wily attempts to reprogram Rock and Roll at his lab later, but Rock decides to trick Dr. Wily. He tells Dr. Wily that Dr. Light also built “super warrior robots”, and that if Rock and Roll are let go, he’ll tell him how to defeat the robots. Rock uses this lie (Dr. Wily believing robots can’t lie) to cause a distraction and escape with Roll. Dr. Light decides to reprogram and reoutfit Rock into Mega Man, who from then on keeps the world safe. This tale is told in Episode 1, “The Beginning”.
Throughout the episodes, Mega Man thwarts Wily’s various schemes, in a similar fashion to that of the “Super Friends”, usually ending with Rush acting like Scooby Doo.
History
Mega Man starred in a Saturday-morning style cartoon that premiered in 1995. The show was made by animating company Ruby-Spears, which redesigned the characters from the Mega Man video games to varying degrees. At the time the show was undergoing its early development, anime had not yet achieved a “mainstream” acceptance, plus the producers felt the look skewed too young for the retro-80′s-style action-adventure cartoon they had in mind. The final look of the characters was among many different interpretations proposed and was the most well-received by test audiences (it is worth noting that characters who appeared for the first time in season two were considerably more faithful to the original models, only given slightly different proportions and the occasional nose). The series was targeted towards the late preteen boy audience, though Roll’s expanded and much more active role in the series was calculated to try and draw in more girl viewers as well (producer Joe Ruby joked “Also, it showed we’re not male chauvinistic pigs as our wives think”). X, along with Vile, Spark Mandrill, and “Cigma” (Sigma) made a guest appearance late in the second season, and was planned to make more appearances in later shows, with the potential for his own spinoff cartoon as well.
Despite consistent high ratings and being a series producers Joe Ruby and Ken Spears really enjoyed working on, the show was canceled after two seasons. A single post-season-two episode was created to complete Ruby-Spears’ contractual obligations; no true “season three” plans had been put into motion at the time of the cancellation. The decision to end the cartoon was handed down from Capcom, most likely due to merchandising pressures from toy-partner Bandai, which cut several other popular toy lines at the time short due to not meeting sales expectations (including The Tick, Sailor Moon, and Dragon Ball).
Promotional show and change in design
Prior to the show’s premiere a short animated promo was released which utilized a graphic-style more similar with the graphic design of the games. When the show was being produced, the designs of…(and so on) To get More information , you can visit some products about , . The sell men’s leather shoes products should be show more here!
