Marge Follows Darine Stern ? Cartoon Playboy First

Posted on Jul 26, 2010 under cartoon character | No Comment

Much like the October 1971 issue of Playboy that featured Darine Stern as the first black woman to pose for the Playboy magazine cover, Marge Simpson will soon be the first cartoon character to appear in November’s issue of Playboy as their first ever cartoon cover model.

Jimmy Jellinek, Playboy’s editor had this to say about the ground-breaking issue: “We decided to re-create [it] because it’s one of our most iconic covers,” Jellinek said, “and because Marge’s sexy blue beehive immediately made us think of Darine Stern, whose beautiful, voluminous hairdo was front and center on the October 1971 cover.” Of course, he did not mention the other more pressing issues surrounding Playboy Magazine these days.

This move is Playboy’s latest attempt to deal with the economic crisis. Even the popular adult entertainment magazine has been down 31% in sales over the last year and has seen its circulation decrease to 2.4 million according to a major publishing newsletter.

Can Marge Simpson, the wife of a beer-addict and mother of three kids really be the answer for Playboy’s financial woes? Hugh Hefner sure seems to think so. The move is also well planned since Darine Stern’s ever-graceful appearance in Playboy in the 1970′s was considered the golden age for Playboy. They are hoping that this move will have a similar effect by targeting the younger crowd and hopefully increasing their circulation to those spectacular 1970 levels.

If this semi-controversial move by Playboy pays off and it does successfully appeal to the younger demographics, expect more cartoon characters to be bearing it all in the very near future.

Bunk beds, popcorn and animation: the best Disney characters of all time pt 2

Posted on Jun 01, 2010 under cartoon character | No Comment

A list of some of the most controversial, funny, charming, and goofy, Disney characters in the history of the franchise. Get the kids all settled in the bunk beds, get the popcorn popping and get ready for the best Disney characters of all time:

Donald Duck

Did you know that Donald Duck’s birthday is June 9, 1934? He is 73 years old. The more you know, right? Anyways, Donald Duck is an interesting Disney character because he seems to happy-go-lucky and good natured, but has one of the most explosive and violent tempers of any of the characters in the Disney franchise. Donald Suck was one of the most popular animated figures during World War II as audiences were looking for “edgier” cartoon characters. Many of the films during the World War II era had Donald in propaganda types films, the most famous being “Der Fuehrer’s Face” where Donald was a worker in “Nutzi Land” as a performance chip factory worker where the stress of the job, long hours, small food rations and being forced to salute the picture of Adolf Hiter at every turned let to a nervous breakdown for Donald. The film won the Academy Award for Animated Short film. He was also in other films from that era like “Donald Gets Drafted” and “Commando Duck.” One of the most instantly recognized Disney characters, Donald Duck is a living, animated legend.

Sebastian

Everyone loves Sebastian or, full name, Horatio Thelonious Ignatius Crustaceous Sebastian. The servant of King Triton, Sebastian is a Caribbean-accented crab and “royal court composer” who writes and performs music for the King and his seven daughters. Sebastian is sent to follow the kings daughter Ariel and alerts Prince Eric to her whereabouts so he can win her affections. It is Sebastian who is the key character at many points of the story in helping out the human and Mermaid/Merman characters to win and defeat the evil sea witch Ursula, at the very end helping Ariel and Prince Eric defeat her in the final battle. There have been modern interpretations of Sebastian as being a racist character due to his Jamaican accent and song about not working and just playing music, which some find racially insensitive to African Americans. Whatever you thoughts on it, Sebastian is a great character that kids and adults love, some saying that he really makes the film “The Little Mermaid” as successful as it is.

Funny Cartoons Add Fun To Your Life

Funny Cartoons can bring a smile to even the worst day. You know the kind of day I mean! One of those days where you have to change your shirt three times before you get out the door. Once because of a milk accident, one unfortunate painting disaster, and one very close encounter with “digger” the dog. You’ve lost your umbrella and you get a soaker on the way to the car and your lunch is still sitting on the kitchen counter.

A funny cartoon in your email box, or left on your desk by a well-meaning friend can brighten even the cloudiest day. After all, disasters in animation are much funnier than real life.

Funny Cartoons Can Turn That Frown Upside Down!
Have you ever giggled out loud at Charlie Brown falling on his face one more time? Or chuckled at the latest shenanigans of Calvin and Hobbes? I know that I find it much funnier when Ziggy is having a bad day, then when I am.

Funny cartoons are great because they can be enjoyed by the whole family. No matter what your age there is a cartoon that will tickle your funny bone. They are easy to share and can cause a chain reaction of humor. Some of the funniest moments in life are depicted by our favorite cartoon characters.

“Did He Just Say That?”
Funny Cartoons are also great because they can get away with saying things that we wouldn’t. It isn’t nearly as funny when your three year old asks the lady on the bus why she has a beard or the overweight man when his baby is due but when one of the family circle kids asks you can certainly find the humor in it.

In cartoons, aliens from outer space can find the humor in humans following dogs around picking up their poop and still thinking that humans are the superior species. Cats can take revenge on dogs, mice have a fighting chance, and nerds of the world prevail. Bullies always get what’s coming to them and the underdog wins.

Pets develop voices and jobs and anything your mind can imagine can be made funny in cartoons. What is your cat thinking while lying on the end of your bed? What would the furniture do if it came to life when you were gone for the day? It doesn’t matter what strikes you funny, there are cartoons that will make you laugh, guffaw, and slap your knee.

Whether you are in a silly mood or having a grumpy day funny cartoons are a great way to add a laugh and bring some more happiness into your life. Laughter is contagious and so is the humor found at Family Fun Cartoons.

So make sure to bookmark the site to get your daily dose of hilarity and don’t forget to send the link to all your friends, after all it’s not an inside joke! Bring a smile to the face of everyone you know and tell them where to go!

What are cartoons?

Cartoon / Comic is a popular art medium. It is a piece of art. It is humorous in intention. It is usually a single drawing with a caption immediately under it. But its meaning will be more. It conveys messages more clearly than an article/news with 2 or 3 pages.

How cartoons help our life?

They give us a good laugh. It helps us to forget about our problems in life. The cartoon characters are very funny and carefree. They gave us some joy right from our desktop.

Cartoons illustrate day to day life in a humorous way. Although they employ humor, some are more serious in tone. Most of them use irony or satire. They usually act as a visual metaphor to illustrate a point of view on current social and/or political topics.

I have seen a cartoon about Global warming in JJComics. It gave me a good laugh and a good thought.

With the expansion internet, there are thousands of websites providing cartoons. Some are free, some needs credits. Anyway they are worth to read and use. They communicate more clearly than words.

How can we promote cartoonists/ cartoon websites?

Good cartoons need to be promoted. Cartoonists need to be properly recognized and rewarded.

How can we promote good cartoon websites? We can do that in different ways if we really appreciate them.

·        Give the link of the cartoon site  in the articles we are submitting

·        Putting a link in the emails we are sending

·        Using them (don’t forget to give them the deserved credit)

·        By introducing it to others…

Like all online directories the cartoon directories are also helpful.

For people who are interested in contributing cartoons or those who have ideas, but no time to start a website or join with any magazine/news papers, there are many website that are happy to receive their ideas/work.
